Welcome to  Funeral Service Operative Quality and Compliance Training  –  designed and delivered in conjunction with the North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.

NOTE: NAFD /SAIF MEMBERS ONLY

The Funeral Service Operative (FSO) Quality and Compliance Training has been designed to combine  the requirements of the Funeral Director Code and ‘Quality’ QMS into daily working practices.

The training is specifically relevant to funeral service operatives, assistants and driver / bearers who have responsibility for the identification, removal, transportation, care, and visitation of deceased persons. The objective of the training  is to enable employees to understand how to achieve consistency of  standards for the benefit of compliance with the Funeral Director Code and to contribute to QMS continuous business improvement.

This course will be completed in a one-day 6 hour online workshop.

The  training is delivered by an experienced NHS pathologist trainer and an experienced NAFD funeral training professional.

The topics covered in this workshop are:

FSO

Compliance working to the requirements of the  Funeral Director Code.
Working to quality managed processes and procedures.
Practical working to support business audit and risk management.
Relevance of Identification, Traceability, Security and Accountability.
Infection Controls and use of PPE.
Documentation and timely Mortuary Record keeping.

Assessment

Assessment of learning takes places throughout the day concluding with a final assessment as proof of learning.

Certification

A Certificate of Training will be issued following completion and achievement of a short online test.

Delegates will receive a NAFD Certificate of Training worth 6 CPD points on successful completion of this one day training workshop.

Registration and Payment:

1. Eligibility for this course is for funeral service operatives and driver / bearers.
2. Initial registration is completed through the NAFD Education website www.nafdeducation.org.uk

The total cost of this course is £295 and includes:

  • NAFD – NHS North Tees Registration fee
  • External verification fees
  • One training workshop
  • Online resource access including a digital support pack containing guidance, templates and other useful documentation.

3. Last registration date for students is 2 weeks before commencement of each training workshop.

The registration dates are for NAFD members in England & Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland

  • 12th December 2024
  • 16th January 2025
  • 5th February 2025
  • 6th March 2025

Places are limited to 12 places per workshop.

Please note: this workshop is not suitable for individuals who are new to the funeral service operative role as it does not teach the underpinning skills and knowledge required to care for the deceased.
