Click on User Login and then click on ‘Lost your password’ and follow the instruction screens. You will need the username or email you set your account up with to be able to do this.

  • If it is not recognising your password follow the “I have forgotten my password’ FAQ
  • If it is not recognising your email/user name You should log out and then clear your cookies/history/cache. Once you have done this open a new browsing window and try again. If you have tried this and it does not resolve the issue, please contact us using the Contact box below. Make sure to state the full name, and company name, and the email you believe you used when setting up your account.

Once you are logged in, click on the Learning Zone tab and then on the Courses tab. All your courses can be found here.

This can be done through your Profile. Once you’ve logged in to the NAFD education website, go to the Learning Zone and visit your profile page . Click ‘edit’ to change your details.

You need to be logged in to the system before purchasing so that it recognises you as a user.

Also please ensure that within your profile you have input your company’s NAFD membership number in the relevant box, otherwise the system will not recognise your affiliation and therefore not reduce the price of a course you are purchasing. Once you have completed this box, you will need to save changes and then log out and log back in for the system to fully update.

Ideally You should log out and then clear your cookies/history/cache. Once you have done this open a new browsing window and try again.

You might need to delete what is in your basket and add it again. This should then show at the discounted member rate. If you have tried this and it does not resolve the issue, please contact us using the Contact box below.

You should log out and then clear your cookies/history/cache. Once you have done this open a new browsing window and try again.

If you are still having problems try using a different browser, or try using your phone to check if it is your computer or the site that may be creating the issue. If it works fine on your phone or Ipad etc then you know it’s an issue with your own computer, be that the age of your operating system, processor or browser version.

The internet is constantly updating, so the versions of machine processor, OS and browser version need to keep pace with this, otherwise functionality will be lost and old systems and browser versions may struggle to work effectively with the site. Using your phone as a test is a good way to check, as the system and browser are more likely to be up to date. If you have tried this and it still does not resolve the issue, please contact us using the Contact box below.

Programme Queries

The tutor selection is now part of the course registration process for courses that require this.

Email education@nafd.org.uk providing the name of the tutor you want to change to. We will then contact the tutors involved.

We do have several tutors who provide support nationwide. Please click Here for a list of our tutors and the areas of the country they cover.

Once you have purchased your course and your tutor has approved it, they will contact you and provide you with these details.

The NAFD will ensure that a new tutor is provided for you to complete your studies.

Registration fees can be found Here within each relevant course.  Tutors each set their own tuition fees for the Level 4 Higher Funeral Directing Diploma.  Please email education@nafd.org.uk for further information on tuition fees for the Level 4 Higher FD.

You get 45 days from registration to complete the Funeral Service Awareness training.

Send an email to education@nafd.org.uk to provide a reason why you are unable to complete the course within the timeframe.  If the NAFD deems this to be a valid reason, then they will grant you an extension of up to 45 days to complete the course.

Certificates are processed and sent out monthly. You should receive your certificate in no more than 30 days after you have completed the training.

To upload your activities, you need to be logged in to your account on the NAFD education website. Go to the Learning Zone tab and then click on the relevant course. Under the relevant unit and activity, you will see an area titled Upload Assignment. Please ensure that you upload the correct activity to the corresponding area.

You need to email education@nafd.org.uk requesting a password. You may also need to provide evidence that you meet the entry criteria. Once we have confirmed that you do, we will email you the link and passwords.

This depends on the course. If it is an online course, then access will be available immediately. For the Level 4 NAFD Higher Diploma in Funeral Directing, the tutor needs to approve it, which may take up to 5 days from receipt of your order.

An extension to your course is not automatic.  You will need to email education@nafd.org.uk requesting to extend your registration. They may call you to have a discussion regarding why and where you are with your studies.  If it is agreed, the education team will email you a link to pay for a 6-month extension to your studies.  You can only extend your registration period once in order to complete your studies.

If you are studying an online course, then contact education@nafd.org.uk to discuss this.  If you are studying the Level 4 NAFD Higher Diploma in Funeral Directing, you should in the first instance discuss this with your tutor.  A deferral form can be found under Course Materials within your course.

Again, please ensure that you have discussed this with either your tutor if you have one or one of the education team at National Office.  A withdrawal form can be found under Course Materials within your course.  Once completed, this should be emailed to education@nafd.org.uk

Unfortunately, you cannot continue to study with us if you are not employed for a minimum of 16 hours per week, paid or voluntary in the industry.

If you are on a course with a tutor, then you must in the first instance discuss any complaints with them in order to try and resolve the issue.  For all other courses please email education@nafd.org.ukA complaints form should be provided to you to complete, which should be emailed to education@nafd.org.uk

Yes, online courses available to students are the Funeral Service Awareness course, the Funeral Service Operative Course, Mortuary Management and the NAFD Funeral Arranging and Administration Certificate.

The NAFD is unable to accept payments via Advanced Learner Loans as our courses are not currently regulated. Registration fees for NAFD training courses need to be paid via the Education website before course access is granted.

As a starting point the NAFD recommend that you contact funeral firms in your local area to enquire about voluntary work experience and operative / arranger openings.  This will give you an insight into the industry, types of roles and whether this is a career choice for you.  Large organisations including Co op, Dignity and Funeral Partners advertise jobs on their own websites.  Smaller businesses may use Indeed and Facebook.

In terms of support from the NAFD we offer various training options.  For people not working in the profession, you may want to consider the online Funeral Service Awareness course which provides an overview of the funeral profession and the roles of funeral operatives, arrangers and funeral directors. This course is open to anyone to provide an overview of the industry.

For people working in the industry, we offer courses in Funeral Service Operatives, Funeral Arranging and Administration and Funeral Directing, which help to develop the knowledge of these occupational areas.

If you would like further information on our training courses, please visit the NAFD Education website at www.nafdeducation.org.uk.

As a starting point the NAFD would always recommend that you speak to the owners or managers of the company you are working for, expressing your desire to progress into a higher level role. They may be able to give you the opportunity to do some job shadowing or work experience as a Funeral Arranger / Funeral Director to begin to develop your skills and knowledge.  Failing that, you could approach other Funeral businesses in your area to see what vacancies or opportunities they have in Funeral Arranging / Funeral Directing roles.

In terms of support from the NAFD we offer various training options for people working in the profession. If applicable, you may want to consider the online Funeral Service Awareness course which provides an overview of the funeral profession and the roles of funeral operatives, arrangers and funeral directors.

We also offer courses in Funeral Arranging and Funeral Directing, which help to develop the knowledge of these occupational areas, however you must be working in the role to study for one of these courses. These courses have recently been updated with the NAFD Funeral Arranging and Administration Certificate becoming a completely online course.

If you would like further information on our training courses, please visit the NAFD Education website at www.nafdeducation.org.uk.
