Unit 3 – The Impact of Bereavement and Grief

Grief is the emotional, psychological, physical and spiritual process by which people let go of the person they have loved and come to terms with their life without them.  It is difficult to describe or imagine until it happens to you.

Only a grieving person knows how they feel at any one moment, it could be fear, guilt, anger, hostility, sadness, despair, loneliness and sometimes even relief.

All that can realistically be offered to someone suffering from grief is to listen, support and to offer kindness
